Born on December 19, 1997, in Brazil, Erich Munis is the youngest of three brothers, alongside accomplished Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu competitors Alex and Anderson Munis. Their father significantly influenced their passion for martial arts, instilling core values that guided their athletic journeys and competitive mindset.

Munis began his Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu training with the Raça team before transitioning to Clube Feijão, where he trained extensively under Rodrigo Feijão. His early competitive career presented notable challenges, including a two-year period as a blue belt without a single tournament victory. A pivotal breakthrough occurred at the 2019 IBJJF European Open, where Munis secured double gold as a purple belt, significantly boosting his confidence and visibility.

His trajectory further accelerated after being discovered by the Dream Art project through a social media post, leading to sponsorship and financial backing. This support allowed Munis to dedicate himself fully to competition. On September 28, 2020, he earned his black belt from renowned instructors Isaque Bahiense and Gabriel Figueiró.

In 2019, Munis achieved a historic milestone by becoming the first non-black belt athlete to win the prestigious Copa Podio Heavyweight Grand Prix. This landmark victory elevated his international profile and established him as one of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu's rising talents.

Munis continued his competitive dominance by capturing the inaugural IBJJF "The Crown" ultra-heavyweight Grand Prix title in 2023. He successfully defended this championship in 2024, consistently showcasing technical superiority and strategic precision throughout the tournament. Following his 2024 victory, Munis announced his intention to compete at the upcoming 2024 ADCC World Championships.

In 2023, Munis secured the absolute Grand Prix title at BJJ Stars 10. He is scheduled to defend this prestigious title against fellow IBJJF World Champion Adam Wardzinski at BJJ Stars 15 on April 26, 2025. This highly anticipated matchup between two reigning world champions underscores Munis's prominence and competitive stature within the sport.

After departing from the Dream Art project in 2023, Munis co-founded Soldiers Jiu-Jitsu, a new academy based in São Paulo.
